This time last year we saw two big events happen at IFA 2020: Google announced its Pixel 6 family of phones, while Samsung launched its Galaxy Z Fold 3 phone. Both devices have been hugely successful, but one thing they both share is impressive specs across all three generations. If you’re looking for high-end features without breaking the bank then these might just be your best options.

In terms of performance, there was only ever going to be one winner here: The Huawei P30 Pro. It has a triple rear cam setup (including 2x telephoto lenses), which makes taking photos easier than ever, plus a huge 4,200 mAh battery. This means that even if you do take multiple shots with different settings, you’ll still get great images from each one thanks to AI smart image processing.

If you want something cheaper, meanwhile, check out Sony’s Xperia 1 II or Oppo F9 Pro. These handsets come equipped with excellent cameras and premium glass panels, though neither offers quite the same level of power as the other flagships mentioned above.

As prices tend to fall over time, it’s no surprise that we’ve seen a few cheap flagship phones emerge since 2019. One notable example is the OnePlus 7T and 8T, which cost significantly less than any of the previous models despite including better components in most areas.

But what about budget phones? Well, in 2022, we can expect to see some new affordable handsets hit shelves. You don’t need to wait long either because several manufacturers already unveiled them earlier at MWC 2021.

While none of these products may match up to the likes of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 10, Honor Play, Realme X60/X90, or Nokia 3310, they offer solid specifications at lower costs compared to many well-known brands.

There isn’t always a clear reason why certain Android phones end up costing so little. With that said, however, there are reasons why specific manufacturers can keep prices down.

For instance, Apple usually charges higher upfront fees for services such as iCloud storage but often offers better deals overall once you start using them regularly. In contrast, Android manufacturers aren’t known for offering attractive subscription packages. So, why would someone buy a $150 Pixel 4A instead of waiting until Black Friday for a discounted deal on a pricier model?

It boils down to marketing and brand loyalty. When people choose a particular product due to its name rather than its price tag, they typically won’t consider switching unless something drastically changes. However, if buyers know exactly what they’re paying for every month, they can make smarter decisions during negotiations.

So, before you sign anything, remember that not everyone who wants a new phone ends up spending hundreds of dollars on one. Some folks simply opt for a refurbished unit or hold onto their old iPhone for longer.

When it comes to quality photography, all eyes turn towards smartphone makers first and foremost. After all, they’re responsible for producing the best mobile sensors available right now. But, aside from the latest Snapdragon processor, what else does a smartphone need to capture outstanding pictures?

Finally, if you’re interested in buying a phone specifically designed for photographers, then you might find yourself drawn toward mirrorless cameras. Companies like Olympus, Panasonic, Leica, Nikon, etc., produce various models for professionals, amateurs, and beginners alike.

Battery life is another major factor that affects how much you pay for a given gadget. While charging cables and wireless chargers continue to become smaller, manufacturers have figured out ways to squeeze more capacity into their gadgets. As a result, you can get larger batteries for your favourite Android phones.

However, a bigger battery doesn’t necessarily mean a shorter charge cycle. Instead, you need to ensure that whatever manufacturer uses efficient energy management strategies. Doing so keeps standby times lengthy, and limits usage spikes whenever possible.
